SecondLife Standard Viewer Plus The Newest StarLight Skin

By Avatar JayR Cela

So what do you get when you combine the standard LL SL viewer with the latest StarLight ? Ypu get a darn nice viewer, that's what. I still can not Mute Group Chats selectively or Read my Log Files, but at least the Camera Control is compact and Draw Distance is located on the top bar.

There are 8 or 9 skin presets, with the ability to modify various color choices as you please.

Some additional FUI menu options, and solid performance. Quite a few choices dedicated to Film Making as well.

All in all if you are looking for a viewer that offers unparalleled customization, this is a great viewer option.

she is as limited as i was when i did mods for Kirsten

Hi there Sis / I never said Hitomi was responsible for great FPS performance, what I did say is that she has managed to take a very mediocre and piss poor user interface and make it extremely usable.

Niran is quite right except in two ways.

1 - There are a number of bugs in the xml that I have removed in StarLight, some may possibly affect performance but it would be marginal. I actually believe there are some big rendering issues with some of the UI, based on it's fluctuating performance with different UI elements present, but I haven't found them yet :).

2 - No doubt there are bugs in StarLight that may affect performance in a bad way as well. Also some of the textures are bigger and may affect download speeds.

I recently compared the standard viewer with a StarLight-skinned viewer on a slow connection and could not spot any differences in performance. Both a disappointment and a relief. :)

Hi there Hitomi

I had a long conversation with Niran yesterday, currently her Viewer is practically unusable for a large majority of SL users, because it is compiled for 64 bit Win7 only.

I believe I have convinced her to compile a 32 bit version, it may be available very soon.

Cross your fingers Sis / LOL
