SecondLife : Method To The Madness : Hopelessly Break All TPV's

By Avatar JayR Cela

This is just my opinion, LL is completely befuddled by the fact that most people feel all of the official viewers Bite The Big One !

They all suck, it is beyond belief that simple things like a re-sizable camera control, and the ability to Mute Specific Group Chats has never been addressed in any of the official releases.

How many people do you know that are using a LL viewer ?

More and likely almost no one !!!!

    Pretty close to ZERO !!!!!!!

So what do they do ?

     I Guess the lab figures....

Push out a barrage of completely unreachable goals for the TPV's

[ more and likely no one can figure this out ]

And the platform is in a total state of collapse.

The way I look at it is / LL know's the TPV's are kicking their ass, so we just gonna shut em down, with ton's of crap even we cant figure out.

I do not like the orange particles in Firestorm. It always looks like people are throwing oranges at chairs.

I'm not sure what you mean JayR by throwing a bunch of new things at TPV's ? Basically, 90% of any viewer right now is based off of the LL viewer...all the TPV's have to do to keep up is copy LL's latest code.

Personally, I have been saying for a long time that if a TPV was forward thinking enough, that they would ditch dependence on LL's code, just use their connection code to connect to the grid with.

Soon, none of it may matter and a whole bunch of SL programmers might find themselves jobless as ol' Philip comes back with an SL killer in HighFidelity.

Hi there Again Lord,

Thanks for helping Peter out with his issue / LOL :_)

I realize that about 90% or so the all the code is LL based, however if it was not for the extra % contributed by the TPV's we could all be stuck with using the original Viewer 2, people like the FireStorm,Exodus,Dolphin,Kokua, and Singularity teams, along with NiranV, Henri Beauchamp, and Hitomi Tiponi, have so far been the only force's I see driving the platform forward.

It's a classic chicken and egg situation, which one is first, a mediocre UI and solid back-end plumbing, or a killer User Interface where some of the stuff is broken.

It is definitely a balancing act, that I hope the Lab is able to pull off. And although I am a firm believer of throwing a bunch of idea's out there at once is a good way to narrow down the field when code sorting. I believe thing's have gotten a bit out of hand.

And quite frankly If I was a TPV I would certainly be exploring other option's.

SL is a 10 year old platform, and none of the Third Partly Developers get payed for their contribution's or countless hours spent clearing up and solving problems the lab's employee's seem to be haphazardly injecting into the code base, eventually leading to a dearth of independent developers willing to put up with the bull-crap.

Make no doubt about it, I expect to see a big shake up at the Lab in 2014. Will SL survive ?

I'm still calling for a lower tier as the best way to attract and keep new customer's. That's just my opinion.
