SecondLife 1 : Greater Transparency : Hardware Upgrades : New Experience Features : UDP is Going Away-FINALLY !

By Avatar JayR Cela :

It look's as if the Lab has no intentions of slowing down development on the SL1 platform anytime soon, after listening to Oz and Pete Linden speak at the FireStorm Q&A today, I was pleased to hear several issue's talked about in detail.

#1 Greater transparency. In other words, we as users can expect to be filled in more often than in the past          about what is coming down the pipe.

#2 The lab is making some major hardware investment's with the server equipment that handles Group                Chats.

#3  New User Experience features are rapidly being developed, that will allow content creators greater                freedom's in crafting a more immerseve user experience.

#4  UDP the ancient Internet protocol will finally be dumped in favor of HTTP / Yayyyy !
Is about time on that issue.

And last but not least the in viewer based Web Search viewer is going to dump Web Kit in favor of the new and vastly superior Chrome Embeded Framework api

All in all, everything so far is good news.

Now we just wait and see.
