OK I've About Had It with SecondLife Viewer 2 "Because Part 6" "When's a Tear Off Menu not a Tear Off Menu ?"

OK hear I go ranting again. Tear off menu's, or in this case, dock, un-dock-able menu's. This is complete lunacy on LL's part. I guess if I had a 32" or larger wide screen monitor, I could live with this crap.

When V2 was first introduced, I seem to recall a blog post from the person in charge of this miserable piece of crap defending the multitude of poor design decisions. It went something like this. Well ya cant do this, and ya cant do that "Because" we screwed up, and its too late now, tons of money and man hours have been dumped into this bastard of a project, and so many flaws are hard coded into the UI we can't go back now. So like it or not, your stuck with it !

One of the definitions of insanity is to continue trying the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result. I can see this is becoming disturbingly apparent with the V2 SnowStorm team. I regularly attend 1 or 2 meetings a week, in which the members use live voice chat, sad to say from the general inflections I hear from their voice tone's, the enthusiasm is quickly dying. It may be my imagination, or the increasing realization by the team that V2 is a total Turkey is finally sinking in. It has only 2 good points to build upon.

#1 Outfits
The ability to to use inventory link's when creating outfits is a huge improvement. However, this is      back-end server based, and was easily back ported into several TPV1.x series viewers.

#2 Media on a Prim
My good friend Thinkerer  http://www.thinkerer.org/Background/BakSiteMap.htm is a huge fan of this feature. Several other prominent SL friends of mine are as well. This new feature alone has the potential to be a total game changer in my opinion. A total ++ hands down winner in my opinion.

So let me get back to what I started. Who in the hell can work with this crud. I am primarily a builder in SL, and i like a consistent user interface, not some convulted disaster zone with unpredictable,  annoying options, and odd results. I'm just going to paste some screen shots here. You be the judge.

Well I guess I managed to get this out of my system for today. If you enjoy using Viewer 2, I'm happy for you
