OpenSim : HyperGrid : Alchemy Viewer : Newest Release : Diving Back Into Debug Settings is a Good Thing :part 1

By Avatar JayR Cela

Hey look, the newest Alchemy Viewer ( 3.8.5.36974 ) , ROCK's Big Time in a lot of area's, however it has a ton of ruff edges. Last night I took a trip back in time to the Debug Settings menu and tried my hand at tweaking the thing out, I telling ya right now it was a blast !!!

The Camera Controls are superb with a level of fine tuning abilities, harkening back to the Kristen Viewer V1 series.

I had so much fun, and once I actually figure out exactly what I did, I will fill ya in.

So in the mean time I am asking anyone reading this old rag of a blog to go to

                                         https://alchemyviewer.org/

Download the viewer, play around with it, and most importantly JOIN the Alchemy Viewer Group, file bug report issues, make suggestions, and get involved.

This is truly a Diamond in the Ruff.

OpenSim : HyperGrid : I am working on several Complementary Land Options For People Leaving Second Life

By Avatar JayR Cela

I gonna try and make this as simple and as easy to understand as possible, I am currently in a position to offer complimentary land to new OpenSim resident's, and we talking HyperGrid resident's here, Closed Walled Gardens such as SL and INWorldz are a dead issue's, everyone knows that, or they are quickly finding that out for themselves.

On November 1rst, if all goes as planned, you can set your self up on a well known established OpenSim Grid. There will be a separate  Terms of Service agreement that you will be required to sign. And I'm still working on that.

In a nutshell here's what I have in mind

1. You get a 185 prim parcel of complimentary land for a probationary period of 4 weeks.
1a. You fix the place up real nice, make it look good and use it on a regular basis.
1b. During the 4 week period we, that is you and myself will review the progress.
1c.If you need any help, extra stuff like gardening things or furniture, we will work together
to get you up and running.
2. Once you have gotten things down and you feel comfortable, I will be able to offer you a larger
           440 prim capacity parcel.
2b.  At that point I feel you have gained my trust, and we will get together at least once a month to
discuss your progress and interest in the particular hosting Grid as a whole.
2c.    If you feel that you need more time to make a decision we can also talk about a larger                           complimentary parcel of land on a separate Sim on the same Host Grid.

The whole idea here is to allow you an adequate amount of time to make a rational decision. And quite frankly make your transition from a closed walled garden grid on over to OpenSim and HyperGrid as smooth as I can possibly make it.

These Sim's will be PG rated, with extra stipulations added to the Hosting Grid's TOS.

I will have some pictures very soon of a test run sim set to be opening on November 1 2015. on a yet to be announced Grid.

Stay tuned for more details.

OpenSim : HyperGrid : What Happens When A Sim Owner Goes Berserk ?

By Avatar JayR Cela

Every now and then in a virtual world environment, you eventually will have to deal with people that loose their temper, and who knows what can happen then. They throw a temper tantrum and end up returning or deleting all your stuff.

Just deal with the situation, contact the appropriate grid Admins, and go from there.

Will the TPV's Please Stop Kow-Towing to LindenLab Whims

Look,

I am sick and tired of this shit, SecondLife is a dying platform, project Sansor will not allow Third Party viewers, and yet the TPV"S still insist upon pandering to LL's will.

 Wake Up !!!

OpenSim / HyperGrid is the Future

OpenSim : HyperGrid : Working as an Estate Manager

By Avatar JayR Cela

There can be nothing more frustrating than working as an Estate Manager in OpenSim when the owner of the land does not have a clue as to what the hell they are doing, that's why they hired you.

If your going to do this gig you have to demand full Estate Manager privileges, if the land ( sim ) owner is not willing to grant you full control, TURN THE JOB DOWN !!

OpenSim : HyperGrid Mentality Compared To SecondLife

By Avatar JayR Cela

Now this is just my usual hair brained mentality way of looking at things...

Ya take OpenSim people / compare them to the stuck up bunch in SL or InWorldz, there is no comparison.

And for all the folk's just starting to read this Ragg again.

My health is finally back on track.

Bear with me please, while I continue to tear down Virtual Reality, and make it as easily understandable as I can.

Closed (Walled Garden Grid's ) are dinosaurs, I been following the LL project Sansar, I wish them the best.

OpenSim : HyperGrid : Complementary Land : How Much Is Enough ?

By Avatar JayR Cela

Ok lets get down to the nitty gritty here.

You got a sim or perhaps a grid, and you have free  (  complementary  ) land intended for new residents, many of them attempting a migration from Second Life.

So here is the problem or issue, call it what ever you like, but the fact remains that most of the new folks don't have a clue about numerous things oldtimers take for granted.

When ya get people  taking the opportunity to develop a relatively small parcel of land, and they succeed  in making the place look nice, then by all means you should offer them a larger parcel of land / now before any one get's harping on me --- I talking Complementary  Land

You may be surprised by the number of SecondLife people   coming here to OS/HG

Here's the deal if you have land for people to donate then do it // 440 prims  is a good starting point.

OpenSim : HyperGrid : Complimentary ( Free ) Land : Use it or Loose It

By Avatar JayR Cela

Ya know what ? As an acting estate manager on several OS grids, I am getting sick and tired of people that claim a parcel of complementary land, and then they never return, screw em ! I throw them out and make room for new people that actually will contribute to the community.

Older Computers and OpenSim / HyperGrid : Dump Windows and Install Linux

By Avatar JayR Cela

Here I go again : to all the folks out there wasting their money on things like Bright Canopy the streaming service for virtual worlds, wake up please. The extra $15 or so a month you are spending can easily be saved, and over the course of a year you will have $180 to spend on a new mini computer by HP, Dell, Acer, evan Intel and many others are readily available, and the prices continue to decrease every month.  For those concerned about the integrated graphics on these low priced box's, both Intel and AMD have made fantastic advances in recent months with the graphics capabilities, and they come with Windows 10

In the mean time your old computer can easily be retro-fitted with Linux, Ubuntu or one of its derivatives are your safest bet. UbuntuStudio is a fantastic choice, it has everything you can possibly want or need to accomplish most anything conceivable within OpenSim / HyperGrid.
