SecondLife : Is Your Routers Firmware Up To Date ?

By Avatar JayR Cela

With upcoming improvement's due to soon be implemented in SL, and you have more than 1 computer in your home connected via a router. Now is the time to insure that it's firmware is up to date.

It's a fairly simple procedure to perform a firmware update. However you must use caution to insure that you are installing the correct software for your particular router, otherwise you may end up with an electronic piece of junk, no longer functional. In my case I am using a LinkSys BEFSR41 v4 ( notice the v4, it indicates that this is the 4th generation of this particular router )

In most cases you must have a direct connection to the router, in other words if your home network has a switch in the connection path between your computer and the router, more than likely the upgrade will fail.

Go to your manufactures web site, and read all the instructions thoroughly, check and double check everything before you proceed. Once you are confident that you have all your ducks in a row, the update should only take you about 5 or 10 minutes to complete.
