OpenSim : Linux and Screen Tearing : The Ultimate Fix : for Nvidia based display graphics

By Avatar JayR Cela

For the past several years I have been wanting to do some in-world filming, however Linux is notorious for it's X-11 Nvidia combination Horizontal  Screen Tearing issues. I'm not speaking about the new upcoming X-11 replacement Wayland, that is a relatively new screen render standard still under heavy development, it looks very promising but in my opinion still a couple of years off before reaching critical mass with all Linux distributions.

A few days ago I ran across an excellent article in the on-line publication Freedom Penguin, by author Matt Hartley, that address's this issue with a permanent fix that actually works. I have tested this on 4 Linux Box's all of them Debian-Ubuntu based, (although it will work with other distribution as well) and thought I should pass along a link so anyone reading this blog can take advantage of his exceptionally well written description on how to perform this extremely easy fix to a seemingly age old problem. You can read it in full by following the link below.
