OpenSim Showdown : with : SecondLife and Sansar : It's About to Heat Up !

By Avatar JayR Cela

Well here I am back again today to rant and rave about the Hordes of a rising OpenSim populace exiting SecondLife for greener pastures, and Linden Lab's old SL platform that will be retired eventually.

LOL / Now if you can believe that, than you are a real Trip ! / SecondLife is not going to go away because of the Sansar Project, it will be completely overwhelmed by OpenSim, and the HyperGrid.

The year 2017 is going to be really interesting as far as Virtual World's technologies are concerned. I am predicting a huge competition between VR and AR headsets sometime around October of 2018,  my personally feelings are that VR ( Virtual Reality Headsets ) will ultimately fail, falling wayside to the AR ( Augmented Reality Glasses )

Anyways, I have been reading recent articles posted on various blogs blaming the recent slow and agonizing death of SeconLife is due to Project Sansar's upcoming debut.

      Bull Shit !!

People just got fed up with coughing up all the unnecessary $$$$$

Is Plain And Simple, OpenSim provides everything necessary for many creative and extremely talented people to partake in what once was an entirely closed, manipulated and costly system, $295.00 US. per month.

Let's take a look at the new Options we now have in OpenSim. Phenomenal service at a fraction of the cost ( depending upon the service provider ) The ability to import mesh and sculpts creations and export them as well, entire sim's for as low as $8.00 US. per month. HyperGrid along with several market place(s) most notably Kitely.

There is one thing that OpenSim really lacks, that SecondLife provides. The easy ability to meet and associate with like minded people. In SecondLife it is a simple matter of browsing the web site or using the in-world browser search feature. OpenSim ? well the search feature built into the current available selection of client's is usually just barely functional.

    Just something to think about.

Well, let's not forget about the new SL-like grid platform called 'Space'...developed by ex-Lindens and much like a next generation version of SL : http://sine.space/

Hi there Lord

Yes I had forgotten about Phillip Rosedale's supposedly next big thing. I had participated in the first closed alpha briefly. I just couldn't see the point. It wasn't even a good way to just waste some time.

I think I should take another look.

Thanks
