SecondLife : SnowStorm i.686-3.2.2.244636 : Each Version Is Getting Better

By Avatar JayR Cela

Personally I am so happy to see Oz Linden and his team improving the user experience with a redesigned User Interface. The sheer amount on improvement's are huge.

I mean we actually have a well thought out and designed UI. I can't help but think that the recent addition of Will Wright formally from Electronic Art's had something to do with this sudden change of direction. He probably took one look at the previously disastrous V2-V3.1.x design's and said What The F*&^ ! Is This ? And proceeded to severely reprimand everyone involved, or show them the door.

So now we finally got something the TPV's can actually work with.

As you can see, everything finally makes sense, and is logically laid out. I just wish The Lab would include the ability to mute group chats easily. This has been a large complaint of mine for well over a year now.

Ya still can't get rid of some of the oddball V3 behavior, but for the most part I could actually use this viewer for casual everyday purposes. Not building though, all V3.x everything absolutely suck for building or content creation.

If your gonna build something in SL, your either gonna use Phoenix or Henri's Cool VL Viewer, plain and simple. Imprudence is well, I wish they would just go away. Once Phoenix get's Mesh integrated into the standard viewer. A lot of things in SL will have to be reevaluated.

The V1.x code base is a pain in the ass to work with. V3.x is much more modular in it's design. So I would expect next year to be full of very cool surprise's.

The only annoying thing I noticed about this viewer was that FPS took a big hit, the best I could manage to get was about 9 frames per second.
