This was a big weekend for FireStorm fan's, late Sunday night the FS team released Version 4.2.x of the Phoenix / FireStorm viewer for SL and OpenSim ( and yes there is a grid manager ) And I'm here to tell ya, it just keeps getting better and better. In my opinion this is with out a doubt the best Virtual World Viewer available, at least for me it is as close to perfect as it get's. There are enough tweak's built into this release to satisfy all but the most jaded of users. You can fiddle around with most every setting imaginable, and if you as so inclined actually have it mimic a V1.x based viewer so closely, there will be no looking back.
Originally released as V4.2.1.29803 very early on Monday morning, it was quickly pulled mere hours later, due to a rather odd-ball bug that somehow managed to slip past the Q.C. department. Approximately 20 hours later V4.4.2.29837 took it's place, with the fix. ( Man talk about dedication )
If you are new to FireStorm, the amount of options available may seem to be a bit overwhelming at first, fortunately the FS team offer's class's for tweak minded folk's on a regular basis. They also have an extremely active in-world user group, and a brand new Island in SL dedicated to support.
Here are the screen shots of the myriad amount of settings and tweak's available in FS 4.2.2.x
One of the features I really like is the ability to have complete control over the Tip / Toast's settings, including length of fade time and screen positioning. FireStorm is not for everyone, I certainly would not recommend it to a noob.
( That award would defiantly have to go to Zenna Juran and her Zen Viewer, but that's another story. I will be checking out her latest release very soon )
FS is a total state of the art virtual Swiss Army Knife as far as viewer's go it suit's my needs to a T.

I must respectfully disagree with my friend Jay regarding Firestorm's suitability for newcomers. While it is true that there are lots and lots of powerful features in this viewer, the newest user could launch it and enjoy SL right away, just as they could most other viewers. Firestorm has many presets that make it very simple to use, but the power tools are only a click away if one chooses.
Personally speaking, and yes I'm a bit biased, Firestorm is the best viewer for any user, minutes and years old alike.
LOL,
OK I stand corrected

Well i hope it will be the best for open sims, but for SL??????
Any tried Niran viewer or managed to cross 400 sims with firestorm!
And what about the graphics quality, lol!
