Self Destruct seems to be the name of the game until Rod fires the entire User Interface team on SL.
I mean let's just real here, the official SL V3 has one of the most god awful design's I have ever seen. It's no wonder that the lab cannot keep people interested for more that a brief log in.
I recently sat in on one of Oz Linden's meeting's, he has nothing to do with user interface design, and during the meeting he seemed to express several times that a major problem right now with SL is the Viewer UI, unfortunately it is out of his hands and has no control over the garbage being, or not being pushed out the door.
This is really sad, LL has finally started to wake up and realize that the platform is best suited for artistic type people, offering them a fantastic venue, to express themselves and display their virtual creations. The problem is newcomers join, are greeted with this piece of crap V3 UI and POOF ! they are gone in a matter of minutes, never to return.
So can Rodvik Humble save SecondLife ? At this point in time I have some very serious doubt's about his ability to do so without a lot of help from the open source community that has embraced SL thus far.

Ziggy Starsmith has an excellent post on his personal experience with the new viewer.

Also, the new version of the SL Viewer crashes anyone running ATI Catalyst 12.6 every hour. Firestorm does the same thing. Lots of JIRA's set up. I have gone to the Exodus viewer which is more stable.
